Max W. Scruggs, Jr. is a graduate of Tennessee State University and a father of four with over 30 years of martial arts experience. He has taught privately and publicly in the Nashville area with a high degree of success.
He has also been a nationally ranked black belt competitor in the R.S.K.C. (Regional Sport Karate Circuit); finishing in the top two.
He has personally mentored several students with disadvantaged backgrounds who have become black belts and gone on to become productive adults. His interests include all forms of music, the visual arts, traveling and stimulating intelligent conversation.
Max Scruggs Karate opened its doors in Antioch in 1997. Children comprise 70% of the enrollments; 30% are female and 50% of the adult students also have their children enrolled in the program.
